i have my appointment with the surgeon 
at 11:15 a.m. monday, september 18th.

anything he says will be scary.
and lead to even more difficult health 
and quality of life decisions. 
all of which i have to make on my own. 
oh how i wish my grandmother 
did not have dementia
(in general of course)
so she could be here for me. 
with me.

Here's hopeful comments from my end!

With the mutually obsessive interests in Robyn Hitchcock and Michael Penn, I'm really looking forward to when you have the medical issues as less of a thing to have to worry about; it can be awfully hard to think about such things when there's bigger fish to fry.

I think when it comes to their children, sometimes parents have no coping mechanism, other than to put their head in the sand and refuse to understand. Especially when it is something so big and painful and dangerous for their beautiful daughter.

And doctors understand this sort of thing. I would imagine they see it all the time. They probably realise that your parents are just asking the questions with which they can cope. The human psyche is an interesting (if, at times, downright annoying) thing...

my parents always ask embarrassingly ignormant-seeing questions too.
