I love Li-Young Lee so much. He is so amazing. The City In Which I Love You will probably always be my favorite, though.

p.s. I want that fic, a lot.

See, I feel like I'm the only one who likes him for his father poems and not for his love poems. Most of his love poems make me yawn, but the ones about his dad, or his brother, or his family, or being an immigrant can make me cry. "Have You Prayed" moves me to tears, and "Eating Alone" is just so perfect, and whenever I get to the end of "Persimmons", I'm always like ;_; forever.

p.s. I WANT IT TOO. YOU SHOULD WRITE IT FOR ME :D

You really really should check out Behind My Eyes then. It's incredible, and he has this side by side pair of poems, "My Mother's Apple" and "My Father's Apple", and it's just, omg, and then there's this poem where he talks about a father being taken away by soldiers, and the mother presses the boy to her skirt, and the father shouts at them, "Let him see!" and it's just like. ;_; Because his great grandfather was YUAN SHIKAI, I BELIEVE, and his father WAS THE PERSONAL PHYSICIAN TO MAO ZEDONG, and it's like, his life is insane, and when he writes about his father, with whom he had this really intense, contentious but deeply loving relationship, it's like how most people write about their personal relationship with spirituality. ;_;
