Second set of
questions is from
arathesane 1. What do you think of Norway's current government?
I haven't kept up with news or Norwegian politics in quite some time, but every time news do seep through, they are basically news about the government changing their mind about something they decided (or were certain they would decide) back when I did keep up with everything ...
Our current government is a coalition government between the Labour Party, the Socialist Left Party and the Centre Party. This is the second coalition government in a row consisting of these parties under the same Prime Minister.
The government fight some fights that I don't really get or see the point of - and a lot of their important battles don't really affect me (longer paternity leave, for instance, is one of many things that I'm just left going "... okay" at). They did push through an amendment to the marriage act making it legal for same sex couples to marry (this was back in 2009), though, which is something I support 100% and am very happy about.
Recently there has been a mess of issues regarding the Data Retention Directive, oil drilling in the northern part of Norway, immigration, begging, and outlawing purchasing sexual services (note that offering the services is not illegal, but purchasing them is) ... the debates are very wishy-washy, and I have honestly stopped paying attention. The opposition's "solutions" are nightmare-ish, so at least the current government is doing the best they can, but, man. I don't know. It's a shame that the Socialist Left Party fold under pressure, they make a lot of compromises and never really make themselves heard. It's been painful to watch, but it's been going on for about 8 years now, so.
Our current realistic alternative is a coalition government made up of the right-leaning parties + maybe the Christian Democratic Party ... which is not really an alternative at all (for me, at least). I would rather see the Red Party, if not in a coalition government, at least have a presence in Parliament, currently they have no seats. We need someone to really stir up the debates and make things less polarized (.. or wishy-washy as the case may be).
2. When did you last go to a concert?
Oh gosh, I can't remember. I'm not much of a concert-goer, I am afraid. I do enjoy concerts, but few of my favourite bands and artists are artists that still do shows, so ... 8D The last use of my concert tag(s) was for the Norwegian Wood festival last year (where I saw Laleh, Oslo Ess, and Kaizers Orchestra). I have no idea if this really is the last concert I attended, but I think it is. Haha.
3. Coffee or tea and why?
Tea! Because coffee makes my stomach spazz. I used to not really like tea, but Tehuset, a tea shop in Oslo, has convinced me otherwise. Their selection of tea is amazing, I love trying out new flavours. It is by far my favourite hang out spot in Oslo, I spend a lot of time there.
4. What did you have for supper?
Marinated chicken with potato salad~
5. What's your favorite way to spend a day off?
Staying in, catching up on internet things, playing games, watching films.
6. How would you react if you suddenly had the power to make yourself invisible?
How would I react? With joy, I would imagine. Turning myself invisible is probably the superpower I would most like to have. I love observing people - and this power would lead to limitless possibilities in that respect.
7. Who would you most like to meet who has been dead for at least 50 years ?
Well shit, this question has me stumped. Been dead for 50 years?! BUT NOBODY WAS ALIVE THEN~ ....
I apparently have very few historical figures I look up to and want to have a chat with. Then again, even with the people I look up to who are alive now, I would prefer being able to be in the same room as them and just ... look at them as opposed to actually meeting them and having to talk. I'm no good at talking, talking makes me ridiculously uncomfortable.
I really can't think of anyone. 1963 is my limit, hmmmmmm. Aight, whatever, I'll just go with my favourite philosopher from my examen philosophicum class at university - Thomas Hobbes. I really enjoyed what little we learned of his writings. I did my ex phil paper on him, and it earned me my one and only A from my univeristy days. So there. I would like to meet that guy. I guess.
Feel free to come up with better examples of awesome people I could have met had my brain been functioning properly :(
