Oh.

With everyone talking about the release of iOS5 I felt left out and decided it was about time I updated the software on my phone as well. I have a Sony Ericsson XPERIA 10, I've had it for about 10 months, there's been countless software updates, but I haven't been able to update my phone until now. Why? Because for some ungodly reason, Sony ( Read more... )

Right now I have what I think is an LJ Tritan. I was hoping to get an Android-powered phone by Christmas, but I need to start saving as much money as I can, partly for Christmas and partly because I still haven't been called for a job :\

I don't have a smartphone, just one with a QWERTY keyboard and an unlimited text plan. Data plans are expensive! I don't think I can saddle Mom with unlimited text AND data at this time lol

Yeah, I found an reasonably priced service plan with unlimited data usage, and chose my phone after what the carrier had to offer. I'm very pleased. I never call people (fear of phone calls, lol!), and I don't really text much, so smartphones with their ability to put the internet in my pocket is exactly what I've been needing. I mainly use my phone for twitter and G+.

Wtf! That's so silly that it's available only for Windows PCs. While Windows users are a majority, it doesn't mean minorities don't exist. Glad you got your phone updated anyway though. :D

I know, right! D: People keep complaining about it on Sony Ericsson's support forum, but they're not listening :/ I don't know. I guess I'll keep updating my phone at work xD;;; If Ericsson don't change their practices, my next phone might be an iPhone. We'll see.

I have the Samsung Galaxy i9000 for about a year and Windows, but I've never even bothered to install the KIES software on the computer. Neither have I been notified of updates nor do I feel like wrestling with an update like you just did. My baby serves me well, no need to endanger that. ;)

Ooh, if you have problems with the battery running out, you should definitely do the software upgrade. It's such a huge difference for me, it feels like a whole new phone.

The update itself wasn't time consuming or troubling, and with a bit of planning and careful reading, I could and would have taken back ups of all my data and apps before going through with the update. That way I wouldn't have lost anything. But seeing as I wanted to get rid of that default google account anyway... it didn't really matter much :)

Nope, my battery is really tough and hard to kill. I can go 5 days without recharging, with careful use even a whole week...

I know how to back up my phone numbers, but my apps? I have almost 150 apps, so it would suck to lose them.
BTW, if I back up on my SD card, then I have to take it out while updating, right?

NVM, I just checked out the KIES software and I think I'll go without updates - that stuff's complicated! O__o

Wouldn't photos and songs have been on the SD card?

I love my HTC Desire, but I'm eagerly awaiting the Android Ice Cream Sandwich announcement this coming Wednesday, hopefully with some new Samsung phones being announced too. :D
