The weather Gods obviously didn't approve of my plan to go to Akihabara today, so instead of going there and wasting a shitload of money, I decided to sit down and write a list of places I want to see in Tokyo
( Read more... )
This is quite Ironic because I was going to write a huge list of things in Tokyo you gotta see, but then I thought "kjedelig, don't clutter up another one of Tove's entries with your crappy ideas". But anyway:
Odaiba: Take the Yurikamome (it's not a monorail, but it's got no train driver!) to Odaiba, but walk on the Rainbow bridge back, and 芝浦ふ頭駅 (Shibaura-Futo) is 5 minutes up the road. Stick to the North pathway on the bridge if you want to "ooh pretty view of Tokyo", and the South if you want "ooh Fuji TV station and Odaiba". Give yourself a bit of time to cross the bridge.
Asakusa: The naka-mise is where I got your Omikuji from! Take care it's not a still wind around the Senso-ji, since there is a lot of incense being burnt off in the various pits for it at any one time, the smoke can get pretty engulfing

Awww xD You should have. Seriously, I don't know my way around and I don't have a lot of spare time, so being able to experience fun things without wasting the day trying to find the place or figuring out what to do is favorable. XD Tips appreciated! XD
Yeah, it was the yurikamome line I was talking about in my post. Just didn't know... what it was XD
About Ginza, I have no clue what's there. They guidebook/magazine I got made Ginza look boring, so muh. And it's also the most expensive part of Tokyo, isn't it? Doesn't sound too appealing, to be honest XD
I got to go there on a Sunday last week, and I'm going again this week. LULZ. Not on my own, this time, though. Meeting up with friends from Norway and stuffu~~~ wheee.
Yokohama seems like a fun place. I want to go, but I have no idea if I have time for it @___@;
Ginza is boring to some extent, but if you go down Chuo Dori you can see that iconic image that everyone sees in Hollywood of what "Tokyo" is. Plus, it's like 10 minutes from the Imperial Palace. Just see that, and after, walk down to 四丁目銀座, and see *stuff*, and there is a helpful (English speaking) Koban on the corner. Your guide might recommend the Sony Building: I don't, unless you want to buy something Sony. Then I suggest you go to Yodobashi and get it instead. In summary, see Ginza, but only at night time. During the day it's not exciting. You could say it's a place to see, just to tick the box to say you've been there.
I think the best places in Tokyo that I saw were places that, for most part I don't remember where they were, but were just nice. I found a really quaint temple in Kuramae that I never found again. paracelsus found this store with cool 2ch merchandise in Akiba hidden behind a Kebab shop. I bought my Inkan somewhere at some place behind Shinjuku station. There is this awesome restaurant that does a killer ramen *somewhere

Don't have a Suica. Apart from being benri, I don't see the appeal? There are no actual fare discounts involved in having a Suica, is there? Someone explained it to me, but I was jet-lagged and didn't pay attention 8D;
Yoshinoya? Don't think so. Doesn't ring any bells D:
Yes. I have quite a few trinkets dangling from my phone XD Phone is also decorated with stickers and.. stuff. XD
Aaah, Inkan. Want. Thanks for reminding me 8D Need to figure out where to get one~~ but want, want.
