It was raining. Like, build-an-ark raining. Moments like these made Dawn miss home all that much more. The cliche was true -- it hardly ever rained in Southern California. And even when it did, it wasn't like this. This was a monsoon-like thing, just pouring and pouring and pouring. What made it worse was the fact that the boarding house had just up and disappeared. Poof, shazaam, up and vanished. A sparse sampling of camping equipment was left behind in its wake, which didn't make her any more thrilled. Camping sucked.
Taking a walk from it seemed like a good idea when she started. Now though, drenched and looking what was assuredly a bit like a drowned mouse, she was regretting it. "Should've just stayed, figured out the stupid tent..." she grumbled to herself as she was crossing through the town square. She would have just kept going, had she not heard another voice.
"Hel-lo?" She asked, drawing the word out into its individual syllables.
