Nerf clone: X-power Blaster 200

May 28, 2010 11:09

Ran into Nerf-clone blasters, of the brand I posted about in my last post, in our local Marskramer, including some models not in the Intertoys ad. I picked up the cheapest one (a one-shot blaster the same length as a Hasbro Nerf Nite Finder, but smaller in all other dimensions) to poke at it.

Excellent write-up!

How easy would these be to paint? Is it a matter of disassemble, spray, dry, reassemble? Can they easily be artistically painted (follow the lines in the plastic)?

I've yet to paint my first Nerf gun, so I don't know what to look out for; that said, the casing is two simple halves with no undercuts. The moving parts which are likely to receive wear are black plastic on this one, so I think those are better left as is.

Adding pictures as we speak.

Pictures are good. I like it, the colours are fine as they are. Not too bright.

As for "follow the lines in the plastic": the left nerf has 'screws' cast into the plastic. They are easily tipped with silver paint to make them look like real screws. On the opposite side are the real screws to disassemble.
Looks like the right toy gun has enough design in the cast plastic that can easily get a second colour. Just follow the shape of the plastic!

It's a nifty thing alright ;)

Good write up.

If it can be modded to take NERF darts I am certainly getting two of these. Maybe three.
