My heart and sympathies are with you. Having had too many dry summers here, I know how horrible fires can be.

This one is the worst I have ever heard of so many people have lost so much, and the fire keeps burning.

It's just so awful and I just cry for the poor animals.

I couldn't believe the news when I heard it. 80 thousand evacuated?? Where are they putting everybody?!

They used centers in other communities, but then the one in Anzac had to be evacuated as well. Some the oil companies have cut production and people were using the camps there, but there were too many so they were flown out, it is a nightmare.

You can see that heartbreak on the faces of people, it is tragic.

I have been watching videos of it on the new services over here. What a catastrophe.
All those people in their cars bumper to bumper with the fire surging towards them. It would have been closer to hell than I'd ever want to get.

As you know Australia has its share of bush fires, but we have never (to my knowledge) had a fire of that magnitude so close to a city of 80 thousand people. Our fires are more out on the fringe.

Canada has my sympathy

I think there are few houses still standing, and the videos are heartbreaking to watch. This fire just went right through the town.

We usually have Australian firefighters here in BC most summers now, and we have so many trees!

It will take years to rebuild:(

I occasionally see on the news Australian firefighters getting ready to embark to Canada.

It's good that they can help out the Canadian firefighters. It takes a special sort of person to try and get those huge fires under control.

We have a great relationship with your guys, and when need we have also gone to Australia.

We know a few younger guys who have been in the middle of fire for a summer, it is gruelling work. This fire continues and likely will do so until we get rain, and there is no sign of that.

I'm worried about you and everyone...I've been thinking about you
for months.
I don't recall anything this devastating happening here.
Take care..

The fire is in Alberta, many miles away from us, and the fires here in BC are all up north so far, so we are safe.
