Wildfires
The wildfire season has started very early with over fifty already burning in BC alone, but by far the worst is the one in Fort McMurray in Alberta. The whole town and surrounding areas have now been evacuated almost 90000 people with no loss of life, but with most of the town burned to the ground. Sam used to be up there frequently for meetings, it is horrible to watch, and the fire shows no sign of letting up
Below is a video showing people trying to leave town, knowing their homes will most likely not be standing when they return. Here in Vancouver water restrictions have already begun, and the real possibility this year of an interface fire. We decided to be ready just in case, and have packed ‘go’ bags. It is going to be a long hot summer. But my heart goes out to those from Fort McMurray, who had little warning.
