I have to admit, I've been a bit slack on keeping up with the VS, simply because I've been distracted by my own writing projects. I actually intended to catch up on the whole series this weekend, in order, but I clicked on this just to scan over the first couple of paragraphs, and I was totally hooked -- COULD NOT STOP READING. :D ( ... )

Thanks so much :D I'm really glad that it feels episode-like, because that was a challenge for me (I kept wanting to write a romance!)

If you haven't had a chance, check out Ianto's diary for this ep, because it's got a pic of Jack and Mica feeding the seagulls! ADORABLE!

Brilliant. I love the plants and flowers (and the pumpkin story) threading through this. It was like smell-o-vision in a story. And the start is so clever, the way the body is found. Just incredibly satisfying all 'round.

Rhi and Johnny are superb, and the kids!

He was right, in a way; none of them were the sum of the surface, none of them were ever one person.

This. Yeah.

Thanks, Foxy! Hee, smells. I was almost going to try blending a few essential oils to try to recreate what I thought the Cosmetologica stuff smelled like, but then I got LAZY.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it :D Thanks for commenting.

This was wonderful! It felt so very true to the show and I love that Ianto's family made themselves known. I was hoping it would happen. I loved the undercurrent of tension here between Jack and Ianto. I was furious with Jack with brushing Ianto off when Mica was ill, but he did redeem himself by telling Ianto to rely on himself, not Jack (good advice, although his vehemence made me edgy), and the ending was sweet. I really don't like Megan - she rubs me the wrong way - but everyone has done a wonderful job with consistency in her characterisation.

Oh, thank you! I think, speaking as me here and not as any sort of representative of the VS, that Jack really does love Ianto. When I first planned a lot of this story with verasteine, we talked about the tendency that Ianto has to take his cues from Jack unless he's put into a situation where Jack isn't able to lead him; in this case, I was hoping to convey that Jack trusts Ianto to make the right decision -- that Jack really has a lot of faith in Ianto, too.

I think Megan is a love-or-hate kind of character :D I'm glad she read as consistent to you!

Oooh, this was perfect. <3 I love a story that can have me laughing and tense by turns, and this one definitely did. I was caught right from the beginning. It is perfectly built, just like an episode. You know - a good episode. And my love for Rhiannon and Johnny and David and Mica totally played into it. They were extremely well done. I had no trouble seeing Rhiannon in this; you had her character spot-on, and the parts from her perspective were an absolute pleasure to read. As was the rest of it, really. A great way to start the morning. FANTASTIC job.

Thank you, Solstice! This comment made me so happy :D I'm glad that Ianto's family came across well; I struggled a lot with the characterisation in this story, and so knowing it worked for you means a lot. Thanks for leaving such a lovely comment!
