Fer chrissakes, Stephen might still be alive,

Actually, the original script of CoE had this happen where Steven lived because of remnants inherited from jack...

Yep

Russell T. Davies in Torchwood Magazine Issue 17

In fact, when I wrote my first draft, Steven didn't die. It was Julie and Euros and everyone else who read it who convinced me that he had to. Originally, I'd resisted but they were right.

• Not sure I'm buying the reasons/excuses as to how Angelo lived a long life. I'm sure it's possible, but it just doesn't sound very… healthy… I suppose…

But it is possible! You hear of people living to be 110 all of the time. So it's not necessarily science fiction. lmao BUT this is Torchwood so of course it's something weird~

• I want to know how she knows about Jack's torture/murder in 27. It doesn't sound like the kind of story you hear sitting at your Grand-dad's knee on a Sunday after family dinner…

And agreed. WHY wasn't Gwen & Rex more horrified? "Oh, Jack got tortured? Must be Tuesday."

• I love Ianto's mention, and it makes me wonder if there were many men between Angelo and Ianto.

I would consider this a very, very, very high possibility. As well as women. And Christopher Isherwood is stemmed in canon during this time. Jack had Alice with Lucia during the span from 1928 til 2011. So I'm sure Angelo knew all about them. Every single one.

• RHYS! MARY! I love Rhys and Momma-Cooper. I could have done without Gwen ( ... )

Love that Jack checks to make sure it really is Angelo.

I wonder how he would have done it if Daniele Favilli hadn't had that burst vessel in his eye on the day of shooting... (I just learnt this from Jane Espenson's Twitter, this was not in the script)

"And what's wrong with you Red Baron? You got Snoopy up your ass?" and then Gwen and Rex both giggle!!!

Can please a kind soul explain this joke to me? Everyone is giggling like madly and I don't get it. Although I never watched it (we didn't have it in TV when I grew up) I kinda know that Snoopy is a cartoon dog. What this has to do with Jack's coat is beyond me, though. Many thanks!

Dear Esther, when Jack says shush, please stay schtum.Totally OT, but I always am amazed about the German words that sneak into the English language. Never heard "schtum" before ( ... )

It's a Charlie Brown joke. Where Snoopy was always chasing the "Red Baron." :]

I actually expected him to wake up - weren't Jack's kisses life-giving at one time?

When he was immortal yeah. It could be that he removed the oxygen mask and/or unplugged the machines. But yes -- Jack may have unintentionally killed him. Then again, Angelo was fairly old, so really ... it wouldn't have taken much.

After talking this through a bit more with some friends we came up with the conclusion that deep inside Angelo was feeling that Jack had returned to him, and everything he was waiting for, clinging to life, finally had paid off, so he was able to let go finally.

Or something like that.

Because I really don't want it on Jack's shoulders that he killed Angelo.

That was what I thought too. That theory is what I'm going with. He finally got to 'feel' Jack one more time and was able to die peacefully. I don't think it would do well for Jack's psyche to think he killed someone else. :/

I wrote a lot more than I expected to, here!

Angelo's done well for himself, how did he make his money?

Presumably with the advice Jack gave him, as his granddaughter mentioned at one point (like avoiding the stock market/banks and saving up money right before the Depression, etc.).

I just wanted to hug him.

Ugh, me too! But then, I often feel that way about Jack, so.

Seriously, every time I saw JDL on screen, I couldn't help but giggle. Q gets cranky.

He was SO. GREAT. in this episode. Hope we get a lot more of him in the next two.

Really liking the Esther+Jack dynamic.

Me too! I love their friendship a lot. Love that even though she didn't listen to him about the floor, the first thing she did when she entered the room was go and offer him comfort. &them;

Re: Oswald and He might have been genuine in just looking for some kind of human connection?I think it was a ruse. I bet he requested a prostitute with the intention of treating her nice in the hopes that she'd gossip about it and it would be good for his image. ( ... )

I already replied in the reaction post about most of my thoughts on the ep. I really want to reiterate how much I loved the whole scene with Jack and Angelo's bedside. It was sad and gorgeous and poignant. But I also loved the bit of humor brought into it too ( ... )

Also forgot to mention how much I'm loving the Jack/Esther relationship - whatever way you want to look at it. They have a certain chemistry and I'm amazed how much Jack's willing to tell Esther about himself. Their easiness together is what really makes me want the pairing to happen. Friendship works great and all but I'll admit I'm gunning for romantic.
