*clears throat* Sorry for the outburst, just that I have to tear through the internet to find something with these two. Thousands of fics with either of them with Angel and/or Spike, but only a few with THEM. And it's irritates me because Xander hates vampires. Yes, that means there's foeyay between him and them, but there was blatant hoyay with these two, but no... Riley was Buffy's rebound from Angel and so the fandom hates him and won't use him anywhere, even if he's not with Buffy and...

Uh, sorry for the rant. This is kinda my OTP when it comes to the non-canon pairings of Buffy, so...

He was the rebound - he left because he knew that in her heart she didn't love him and still loved Angel. Riley was her 'safe' alternate - Angel was a vampire, if she slept with him, he'd lose his soul and become a violent murderer again, all that angst. Riley was supposed to be her non-dramatic relationship, because he was basically the ultimate nice, normal, human guy and his only tie to the supernatural was that he happened to be a military commando assigned to a group focused on killing monsters. And she was responsible for screwing up the relationship because apparently Buffy's love life needs drama to survive.

So, yeah, she's kinda damaged upstairs, but for several reasons that don't necesarily relate to her choice in men.

Awesome art, and I'm with you, dgcatanisiri, about never finding any Xander/Riley stuff. Although I do like X/A stuff, I'm not big on X/S.
