Screw you, WMM!

Talk about my muse wanting to bite me in the ass.

So I finally got the courage to try out my Children of Men/Lost vid and WMM was running so slowly that when I preview the two clips (yes, that's right, only two clips) that I had 'faded' together, the preview window showed me the scenes like a cartoon. Still picture by still picture. That was ( Read more... )

Grrrr! *bites WMM on the ankle*

The problem with WMM running verrrrrry slowly often turns out to be a virtual memory problem. In other words, you may be running low on RAM. The easiest thing to try first is to make sure you have no other program besides WMM open when you're editing. If that doesn't help, also check to see how much hard drive space you have left. You may be bumping right up against the limit to how much WMM needs (and it actually needs quite a surprising amount!). Also, try opening a new project and using some different clips. Is it still acting up like that? If so, then it's probably definitely too little RAM (I nearly blew up my first computer which had 512 MB of RAM and I found out later it was having to force it to act as if it had double that! O_O No wonder the poor thing finally caught on fire! O_O ;) ) or not enough hard drive space. If you need instructions on how to check your RAM or hard drive amount, just let me know and I'll PM 'em to you ( ... )

ROFL! ♥

The low virtual memory happened to be quite true! (Good call, oh wise WMM expert). My computer popped up a window saying that the memory was low and it was updating it ... or whatever it did.

However, as luck (or misfortune, actually) would have it, the extra plug-in that I did download yesterday (desaturation - I figured it's a depressing trailer and that a mellow coloring would add to it) DID slow down WMM. So, I guess I can render the whole thing at the end and maybe desaturate it as a whole.

Also, if you've recently added any new effects or transitions and the problem suddenly popped up, it could be a defect in one of the new plug-ins. *cue Muse's "Plug In Baby"* ;)So if you didn't read all that, you were right again! Wow, you're good! lol. *dies at the Muse reference!* SQUEE! But according to Muse, "my plug in baby crucifies my enemies." Here, it seems that my plug in baby IS my enemy! Grr ( ... )

Yeah, WMM is the anti-muse! (lol. I was about to write Anti-Christ.) But seriously, any smidgen of inspiration and passion you have to start a vid, WMM stabs it until it's dead.

See! Even Muse's singer is sighing over WMM problems. *pets sympathetic icon*

Um, to summarize:
I'm not crazy (even if that post sounded like it), WMM blows!, and thank you for your empathy. ;)

Haha. I only got interested in that movie because I heard Muse's "Map of the Problematique" in the TV ad. And then I looked up the trailer, and thought it was such a cool idea. Plus, Clive Owen keeps getting sexier each time I hear him. -> Me = British accent obsesser. Don't ask.

I think it opened in the US (wide release) TODAY! I'd goggle it or something!

Yeah, Mangsheng Jack! ;)
