On the contrary, instincts can in time be learned, it just requires the right setting. For instance, one tends to grow much better survival instincts if they live in the jungle for a few months.

That's why traveling with friends helps. If you were to die, they are able to protect you, but eventually your instincts will sharpen anyways.
