For a while after their whole ordeal in the cloud thing, Alexis hadn't wanted to leave her dad's side. It had taken a while for her to be reassured he wasn't going anywhere, he was still alive and well. Once she was mostly secure in that, though, the only person Alexis wanted to see was Cooper

He's not entirely surprised to see her there, wearing his hoddie like she's exactly where she belongs. It's actually way more comforting to see her than he'd like to admit. Given the afternoon he's had, he's going to take comfort where he can find it.

He gets onto the bed with her, wrapping one arm around her and burrowing his nose against the nape of her neck.

"Hey."

Daddy, no!

Alexis woke with a start, inhaling sharply and deeply like she'd been flailing around underwater with no air. For a second she was still back there, still in the funeral home having to watch that guy shoot her dad. Then it registered with her where she was - Cooper's bed, safe in Cooper's bed and Cooper's here now - and she burst into tears.

"Cooper," she sobbed, trembling, and curled tightly into him, burying her face in his chest.

He's not even sure what's happening; one moment she's sleeping and the next moment, she's wrapped around him, sobbing. He smooths one hand over her hair and holds her close.

"Hey," he says gently. "Hey. What?"

"It was so awful," Alexis said tearfully, gathering up handfuls of Cooper's shirt and insinuating one leg between his so she could get even closer to him. "There was this cloud, and my dad - oh God, Cooper."

Her eyes widened in an instant and she lifted her head to look up at him, tear tracks streaking her cheeks. "Don't go into those clouds. Just stay away from them, they're horrible, you go in them and they show you awful things," she begged, not really caring that she probably sounded crazy. She didn't want anything like what had happened to her happening to her boyfriend.
