Bat

I was at Inversnaid to photograph the scenery, but this little chap was out and about a bit early (early in the day and early in the year). I'm amazed any were in focus as he was zooming around so fast.

Utterly adorable! I was quite thrilled and didn't miss getting the shots I had planned in the slightest. It's just a good job I can't take the cats along with me.

Everyone needs a break from LJ from time to time :-)

We had one of those in our bedroom one night not so long ago. Surreal night, but Al was thrilled.

Yikes! Bats seem like they should stay as an outdoors thrill. What did you do? Leave a window open, or throw a towel over it?
I hate to think what the cats would've done with a bat in the house. Probably hidden under the couch, actually.

I would have been happier if he'd stayed outside too. I still have no idea how it got in although the most likely explanation is the chimney. When we put the light on he landed on the floor and Al very gently encouraged him into a waste paper bin and then took him outside. He flew away quite happily so he wasn't injured by flapping around my bedroom. It was about one in the morning and I really wasn't sure the whole episode was even real, but Al confirmed he'd had the same weird dream.
