She was still in pain a few hours after coming home, so I gave her more pain meds. This seems to have worked as she settled and slept

*hugs* The important things are that a) you love her very, very much and she knows this, b) You've done all that could reasonably be done (and more) and c) so long as you're with her to the very end, you have met all your obligations and requirements and then some.

And if and when she ends up going for the Longest and Most Amazing Walk Ever, ask her to look for a golden English Cocker Spaniel with one ear and a taste for chocolate, please? He'll be the one trying to hide the block of cheese he's just stolen.
