Apparently commercial passenger flights began a century ago this year. An incredible thought, and I'm glad I wasn't on those planes! Grim as modern planes are - I cannot imagine ever enjoying it, at least they tend to work :-) I'm afraid you're coming home to the deep freeze, too.
I'm glad you're pleased with your dental work and feel that it has all been worth while. I feel that oral health is oddly overlooked, and yet it can have such a major impact on our bodies.
I'm sure there were downsides to early air travel, however, having your bra underwire palpated probably wasn't one of them. The security screening thing is such a joke. I went to all sorts of bother putting a the liquids in a baggie. Then put two bottles of water in my backpack, as I had discovered last time in Costa Rica, they didn't care about the liquids. Nor do they check laptops or get you to take your shoes off. It worked again, so I didn't have to pay thru the nose for fluids on my return flight.
I forgot about US passenger screening methods - I have to admit that it puts me off travelling there. I think it was Chicago where you left your case and it was then in a totally insecure area where it could have been (a) stolen, (b) easily had stuff put in it.
You must be thinking of someone else, I didn't leave my case in Chicago. Airline left mine in Toronto for a day - but it was supposedly secure. I use tie wraps to secure my bags, they show if they've been tampered with. Agree there are huge holes in security that can't be sorted by touching my boobs!
*hugs you tightly* I'm so glad the dental nightmare is over. Here's wishing you speedy healing from the sunburn and dental work, and may the flight be spent sleeping. I'm glad you got the opportunity to enjoy the climate before departing back to the frozen hinterlands.
Flight went pretty well, I slept and listened to an audiobook. Didn't leave my seat until the mad crowd had surged off in a pelter. I do wonder at people's mind set. The minute the plane connects with the terminal they fight to stand in the ever shrinking aisle for 5-10 minutes so they can rush to wait for their luggage. The woman in front of me, who was one of the keeners, was still waiting for her suitcase as I rolled away with mine.
I had a lovely hour by the pool before I left. Will use memories of that hour to help me thru what appears to be a very long winter.
