Sophie is too smart

She figured out how to defeat the doggie pill pockets. I tried to defeat her licking the pill out by crushing the pill and putting the powder in the pocket - topped with dog food gravy. She just ignored it. Now, I'm down an expensive pill - $7.50 plus the $11 for the pill pockets. The ick factor of shoving a pill down a struggling dog's throat is ( Read more... )

I've used those same pill pockets for Fyfa, every month, as a matter of fact, to administer her Comboguard heartworm/flea/intestinal parasite med. She eats it up, but she's a very food-driven dog, and Goldens are orally curious by nature. I have lots of experience, though, hand-feeding meds to cats. There's definitely an art to that. You have my deepest sympathies.

I just created a barrier to the majority of the living room/dining room/kitchen to cut down on floor cleaning. Sophie managed to jump it three times. Just reinforced prior to bed time. Their water dish is not in the area, but she's just messing with me.

Doggie diapers? My daughter's friend had her poodle in size 3 Pull-Ups the other day, with a hole cut for the tail.

I looked at them in the pet store- wasn't ready to fork out $1 each. Have bad memories of a similar problem years ago - spent $$ on a cloth diaper system for dear departed Woodruff. Didn't work. Corgi body type isn't the same and they come off sadly. Thanks

She likes the pill pockets, just not the pills. This morning's exercise ended badly. Sophie took half a pill in one PP, but licked it out of the 2nd. I did the put it in her throat thing, pill is in, but she bit my thumb, drew blood. I'm going to ask for injectable meds.
Re 2 dogs, I have to keep Bram away as she will eat anything, Sophie wouldn't care

Corgis are full size dogs on short legs. So small dog tips don't work sadly.
