Horribly sad. I'm thinking there will be some recognition for them at DOTD. Have you heard anything?

I haven't heard anything -- but I'm not in that loop. I've never gone to an All Souls Procession in all my years living here!

Thx. I went about three times over the course of about nine years -- never really participating, just as a viewer. I'll ask around and if I find any info, I'll post it here.

Not a Stanhope fan either. I thought the posts he made to Amy's FB page were tacky and insensitive as hell.

Seriously. I considered not posting the link because I didn't want to give him the traffic, but on the other hand, it's a chance to hear Derrick.

As for Doug Stanhope: He's crude, blunt, self-righteous, and brutally honest in ways that are societally inappropriate and often piss people off. Right or wrong, that's who he is and that's what he knows. I agree that his posts were probably not appropriate but who among us has behaved in a perfectly rational way when faced with such painful emotions? I often make jokes and have more than once made inappropriate jokes because strong emotions clouded my judgement. I defaulted to what came naturally to me. Where feelings were hurt, I've done my best to make amends. Doug Stanhope is grieving the loss of friends and he did it in a way that might be objectionable to many but he is grieving. He deserves a little understanding in that.

And please don't think I'm criticizing your response as it's totally understandable. I just think we need to look at the situation with compassion.

Thanks for posting. I heard about it on Twitter/from the Tucson Weekly, but I never knew them before this. I'm sad I never had a chance to now.
