Not a Stanhope fan either. I thought the posts he made to Amy's FB page were tacky and insensitive as hell.

As for Doug Stanhope: He's crude, blunt, self-righteous, and brutally honest in ways that are societally inappropriate and often piss people off. Right or wrong, that's who he is and that's what he knows. I agree that his posts were probably not appropriate but who among us has behaved in a perfectly rational way when faced with such painful emotions? I often make jokes and have more than once made inappropriate jokes because strong emotions clouded my judgement. I defaulted to what came naturally to me. Where feelings were hurt, I've done my best to make amends. Doug Stanhope is grieving the loss of friends and he did it in a way that might be objectionable to many but he is grieving. He deserves a little understanding in that.

And please don't think I'm criticizing your response as it's totally understandable. I just think we need to look at the situation with compassion.
