I had my first two kids with a midwife at Northwest Medical Center, and my third child with a doctor at TMC. I hated TMC. I was strapped down and put on all sorts of monitors, unable to walk around
( ... )
i've been seeing an OB/GYN (from UPH--delivers at UMC) and while i like her, i am nervous about the possibility of ending up with one of her partners on The Day.
i have heard mixed responses about TMC. i wonder whether it is any different if you have a midwife?
i will check out dr. nomaan. thanks for the tip! do you know whether he is veg-friendly?
My old midwife actually worked as a delivery nurse at TMC when I was there and from what she said, my delievery was pretty typical of all deliveries there, regardless of whether an OB or a midwife is present. :\
I'm not sure about Dr. Nomaan's stance on vegetarianism.. But he is very laid-back as far as aprenting goes, there's no solid "right" just what's right for your family. :)
Thanks for this information, we're wanting to get pregnant soon and it will be our first. We just moved here so we don't have a pool of people to question on these things.
Hey I gave birth at the Birth & Women's Health Center. All natural and the midwives and nurses there are great. I also did their centering group visits that take the place of "standard" doctor's visits. My birth went off without a hitch and though I had to be tranferred to TMC for some post-natal care all went well. There were some other ladies in my centering group though that had some complications and had their prenatal care at the birth center and then gave birth with the midwives at TMC.
We take our baby to Dr. Foster at Catalina Pediatrics. They have a good website and I've heard good things about quite a few of their doctors. They are very flexible about cloth diapering/delayed vacs/breastfeeding.
If you have any other questions feel free to comment in my journal or friend me :)
As my husband and I don't have children yet, I can't give you any specific advice. However, have you asked in the mothering.com forums? They have specific boards for individual states. The people on the Utah/Arizona board could probably recommend wonderful midwives and pediatricians. I lurk over there, and almost everyone at mothering.com seems to really know everything about attachment parenting. Hope this helps.
