That was a very successful thrifting trip. I've seen that embroidery form thingys too. Let us know how you like those. You did a great job on the Birthday Block. I need to go check out that pattern. WooHoo for a finished UFO!

That blog has a lot of free patterns and some of them are really nice.

Well I'm sure our blocks look like totally different blocks, then. :D Going to try to mail mine today.

I mailed Ralu's blocks yesterday. I need to dig out the receipt so I can include the tracking # when I post.

The red, white, and blue block is very striking. I especially liked the sound effects!

Woot, February PPV is very pretty!

So glad QA is working for you. Let me know how the Friendship Star works out!

Score on the yarn!! I haven't used Q-Snaps but I know Shae (and lots of other people) swears by them.

The mercury block was a little more fiddly than I thought it would be, it looked really simple. But there were no directions on how to piece the segments together so I had a couple of false starts. The sound effect was the sound of 3d, lol.

I really love the Feb block. I am tempted to do an entire quilt of that one. Maybe I'll do one for linus.

I never did get the first block I was working to work, but this time I actually read the help file, lol, so I think I created the other one in a way that it wouldn't print out properly. I still need to get the naming part down better, but I am pretty sure this one will work just fine. Planning to test this weekend.

Another designer in the making!

I *just* found a design tutorial for QA that's in video format. It's even from an FiS designer! QA tutorial. And now I'm off to ask permission to repost on FiS...

Yeah, I still am on the "turning traditional quilt blocks into pp quilt blocks". I'll have to work my way up to drawing something and turning it into a pp pattern. Then I can start designing my own blocks.

You know I never even made it to Goodwill. The qsnaps (and my pants) were from Thrifttown, which is kind of my go-to store, their prices are reasonable and the organize by color (the clothes). The yarn came from a local thrift that only takes cash. I've had really good luck with clothes from there, too, and their prices are usually cheaper than the other stores. If you have a Savers those are pretty goo, too, though a little pricier, as thrift stores go, but they are good for newer, more modern clothes.

Love the birthday blocks! The Mercury block is great! I looked at the pattern, but didn't see much instruction on how to put it together, so it scared me a bit :)

Your PPV turned out nice!

Good for you for trying Quilt Assist. I always think I want to try it, but I did once and it made absolutely no sense to me. Did you find a steep learning curve with it?

WooHoo for good thrift store finds! One thing I can say is our local thrift stores are super cheap. This week I took my kids and got four kids chapter books and a t-shirt for $1.50.

When you are so used to doing patterns like those from sewhooked, you are at a loss when there are ZERO instructions, other than "make 4 copies". But it came together and I'm please with the result.

DEFINITELY a learning curve on the QA software. I have not even attempted to load in a photo and try to turn it into a pattern. I'm still in the "converting a traditional block to pp" mode.

I've thrifted for years and years, if I can get stuff that still has the tags on it for 5 bucks I'm in. And gently used for even less. If I can't wear jeans and tees to work, I'm not going to spend my good money on clothes for work that I'd rather not be in.
