The Joys and Pitfalls of Fandom Friends

Aug 21, 2009 10:19

The Power Rangers Fandom has spoiled me.

While this *is* a good thing, it's also very troubling. You see, whenever I have a PR plot or theory, it's not a problem. Depending on what I want to write, there's at least half a dozen people to help with my plot or characterization. A theory? Plenty of sounding boards. There are fandom friends all over the ( Read more... )

It does suck. Royally so. -Pouts-

Have you checked out dark-princess17? She has episodes available for download. Without her, I never would have seen it at all: I don't even get that channel. -_-;;

Don't stop calling yourself a fan! You love it, so that's what matters! Besides, it's gotten very sad the longer the series has gone on. -Cuddles her boys protectively-

I love how I'm responsible for the Supernatural in your life! I can't help you out immediately because I'm on vacation and mostly off-line - if you're still stuck by next weekend I'll be home and have more time. You can also try spn_betas for some fresh eyes - I've never used them, but they're affiliated with supernaturalfic where I do post.

-Grins evilly- Expect to be ambushed when you return, since *YOU* started this plot bunny. I've got four chapters complete, but I need ideas on what Sam could have been doing while Dean was dead in Mystery Spot, besides being emo and OCD. I also have another evil thought that occured to me, that I'd love to run by you.

Namely I need someone to help me plot and debate theories for this fic, which you have always been good at. -Pokes you-

::hugs.:: Awww....I can help with the Chronicles of Narnia stuff...since I love it. Even if I want to throw the book away after PC. Edmund is my second favorite character...Susan is my favorite. I love Merlin...and I really have no one to share my bunnies with either. So, it is hard to get the fics out.

I didn't really adore Chronicles of Narnia until the movie came out, at which point I fell absolutely and completely in love with Edmund. My favorite books had always been The Horse and His Boy (I'm a horse nut) and The Last Battle, but since the movies I've developed a new appreciation for the Pevensies. Edmund is definitely my favorite and the one I best emphasize with, but Peter is a good second - again, because of the movies. -Giggles sheepishly-

I shall attack you at some point then, I'm sure. Thanks for volunteering. ^_~

Awww. I know that feeling, and it sucks so bad. Unfortunately, I am not able to offer my help to you in the Thunderbirds fandom as I have less than no experience with it.

On an up note, I am a massive fan of all things Narnian (books and films) so if you need a sounding board, I am more than happy to help. ^_^

If you need help with Thunderbirds I have an open ear. I'm almost always on on yahoo chat. Thinking about getting back on AIM and I'm always on Livejournal.
Most people get the characteristics from the old TV series and the books. There are some good info sites out there but the real places to go are forums and yahoo groups, specifically the one I'm a fan of is Thunderbirds Are Go on yahoo. It's small and welcomes any fans and really up to date info on book releases and such. I know too there is a magazine, unsure if it's old or not, in the UK.

-Glomps you- A THUNDERBIRDS FAN! I love you!

I adore the movie, but the series is driving me nuts! I'm ... seven episodes in? Trying to force myself to watch it because it's SO DULL. And chauvanistic. >.< So far all I've gotten out of it is that Scott gives the orders and loses his temper when things get dicey, while Virgil does all the work and has moments of compassion. Are their any good specific character-building episodes you could recommend for reference, so I can analyze them myself? I would greatly appreciate the help!

... There are books? o.O

I haven't watch many episodes myself. Most of how I view the characters comes from info websites and fanfics. I never really got into the episodes and can't really watch them for long. If you want I can put together a list of fanfics that I find the best. It might take me a few days to find them all though. I could also write up an analysis of how I view the characters if you want. I want to help in any way I can. The fandom needs more writers. Your fanfic is right on character so far.
The thing with the characters is that other than some defined traits (Scott gives orders, Virgil is artistic, Gordon loves the water, John is really smart, Alan loves to go fast) the characters are largely moldable. Makes the fandom so fun!
