Shiny! (Watching all episodes of Firefly three times in a week will lead to over-use of that word.) Your grandmother looks so beautiful and smart. This definitely makes me want to go to my parents' house and find shiny pictures of my grandparents!

both my grandmothers were good-looking women. i don't know what happened to the rest of us.... *cough* ("shiny" in this case means "kind of reflective" - however they printed fancy photos in the early 30s made that wedding picture weirdly silvery.)

now i want to take all the ones off the wall in my parents' house and scan them.... which might be difficult as i think my parents would notice. >.< but there are some really nifty old photos there.

Those are wonderful photos. So much family history in them. And the newspaper clipping of the wedding announcement is also such a treasure.

after whom i'm named (well, my middle name and half my hebrew name)

Which leads me to the question...what is your Hebrew name?

the wedding announcement was stuck in the back of a little photo album after a bunch of blank pages. i was totally surprised to find it.

geelah naomi. i can't remember who the "geelah" is for, tho.

My sister's middle name in Hebrew is Gila.

My Hebrew name has nothing to do with Nomi. My Hebrew name is Esther Miriam (Esther for my great-grandmother; Miriam for my mother's uncle Meir), but my parents didn't know anyone under the age of 50 named Esther, so they named me Nomi (well, Naomi, but that's a story in and of itself). But when I was in Israel, I used Nomi, since it's what I'm used to responding to.
