I find the conflation of comic book adaptations and superhero movies a bit confusing too. Men in Black is a comic book adaptation, so shouldn't that be on the list? What about Ghost World? Sin City? Persepolis? On the other hand, there are other arguably-superhero stories that don't come from comics like Robin Hood and Zorro, plus a huge amount of stuff featuring improbably-powerful human-like beings that comes out of Japan and Hong Kong. It'd be easier to make a list of best superhero movies from the DC and Marvel universes. Or a list of best superhero movies from Japanese anime/manga scene. Or a list of best superhero movies from Hong Kong and wuxia, that sort of thing.

oh man, if they'd put sin city on that list we'd be HAVING WORDS. they have scott pilgrim vs the world, which i never saw (or read), and their rationale was that it references a lot of nerdy/geeky tropes including superhero stuff. so i guess their criteria include "critiques superhero movies" (their reasoning for tank girl) or "references superhero movies". i think you could argue that folk heroes like robin hood count as superheroes, altho this list is very clearly using the tradition that started with american comics in the late 30s/early 40s, which is, you know, capes and spandex. i'd love a list ranking the best hong kong/wuxia superhero movies, tho.

seriously! in what universe is v for vendetta a superhero movie? or the crow? maybe if they'd at least tried to define their criteria first some of their choices might make more sense.
