happy st patrick's day and a happy purim! my roommate made green hamentaschen last night to cover all her bases. (the dough looked kind of spinachy before she baked them, and then it looked kind of pistachio-y. tasted like hamentaschen dough, tho. kind of like shortbready sugar cookies, except not as sweet. and now we're out of baking powder

Oh I saw about the medieval Malian manuscripts before (hmm that is a good alliteration!) - so wonderful and virtually unknown in the west/white world.

i read about them in the badass librarians of timbuktu - which to be fair seemed to be mostly about the radical muslims who took over mali, more than it was about the actual librarians and their actual rescue of the books and manuscripts - but there were no pictures! so it's really cool to be able to see them.

...i did not hoover. i thought i'd be able to hold myself accountable if i went public about it, but... no.
