the timeless series finale was on tonight and let me thank wrenlet for telling me about it. i was always of two minds about the show - the romance between wyatt and lucy seemed to exist just because the ptb thought they needed a romance between the male and female leads, and not because of any sexual chemistry between the actors or any really decent ( Read more... )

this is us, rip, timeless

yeah, Timeless certainly played fast and loose with caring/not caring about changing history. And the fact for the past several jumps they just *happen* to find appropriate clothing where they're going and no one notices them before they're in period appropriate clothing (or finds the modern stuff since they seem to always return in the older stuff) or or or.... And that we never actually saw Lucy and Flynn's Titanic adventure and it didn't seem to have had a chance to happen....? (Also, the naming of the twin kids was a little creepy in my opinion, but that's just probably me) I did like the way they tied everything together though, with ending with Lucy giving Flynn the journal- it kind of tied the whole series together and oddly made Flynn change from being almost the hero of the show rather than the villian/reluctant co-conspirator? I did roll my eyes at the end though, the girl designing a time machine. Saw that one coming a mile away. But still. It worked overall for me.

i didn't even notice the clothes thing! but yeah, how did they always seem to find period appropriate clothes right away, without anyone chasing them down for stealing the laundry? i figure they probably changed in the lifeboat, so their modern clothes were safe from time paradoxes and they had something to wear when they got home. i was bummed we'll never get to see lucy and flynn on the titanic, but if it means we're spared any lucy/flynn i'm ok with it. her and wyatt naming one of their kids after him was weird in the extreme, altho i get why they'd name the other amy. i mean, she was still lucy's sister, just from a different timeline. i expected wyatt to propose to lucy the second they got back from korea, but all the same, they must have conceived the first time they had sex once they were back, because those kids did not look younger than four or five. i loved that the very end was lucy giving flynn the journal - she knew she had to, to preserve the timeline - and i didn't mind the girl with the time machine drawings. We watched the Timeless finale, and it was mostly good except for the last 10 minutes, which got kind of goopy? But mainly, both sorry the series was over and yet happy that they let the writers finish it off with a movie special.

The series as a whole was good, silly fun, and my weakness for Rufus (always Lem to me, from "Better Off Ted") weakened my desire to nitpick. :)

oh man, the end was SO GOOPY. it was very hallmark christmas movie in a way the rest of the finale wasn't. and yeah, how cool was it that the ptb could actually give the show a decent ending? like, an actual planned-out ending!

rufus was the best. i really liked him. i never saw better off ted, but the actor was also in preacher, and that was deeply, deeply weird.

Oh, "Better Off Ted" is wonderful! It's full of insidious office humor (and lots of absurdity and weirdness). Two words: "weaponized pumpkin."

Lem is a scientist in the R & D lab for the show's corporation. It's nerdtastic. :D
