i just had a whole post about thor: ragnarok and accidentally closed the window and lost it. >.< there's no way i'm going to reconstruct the post so i'll just say it was pretty much exactly as crazy and ott as advertised, and it was fun and i enjoyed it but i didn't love it as much as i expected to.

outer space is feeling it for thori saw it with ( Read more... )

wtf, cute animals, nanowrimo, video games, outer space, movies, women in stem, beaten by the technology, otters, weekend wrapup, thor

Ah I'm glad you said that about Thor, because that's pretty much my reaction. I enjoyed it, but it almost felt like it was trying too hard to be whacky, and I don't think I'll be rushing to see it again.

i liked a lot of the funny, but it felt like the funny was overwhelming the rest of the movie. and mcu movies aren't supposed to be comedies like that. it looked like everyone was having fun, and i read somewhere that chris hemsworth was getting bored with the way the movies treated thor - he wanted to shake things up and do something more interesting, and i guess this was it. but it didn't feel like a marvel movie, in a negative way.

I always appreciate your movie reviews. I don't have a warm feeling about seeing Thor, sad to say. I will watch it after it's out of the theaters, I suppose.

Good luck with your NaNo! Gifts sound like fun, chocolate improves everything.

i did like it - it was genuinely funny in places, i like thor, i like the thor&loki stuff - but the funny and the serious meshed really weirdly and it felt like the comedy was overwhelming the rest of it. and i don't think mcu movies are really supposed to be comedies.

my nanonovel is now 11k+, and i don't think anything has really happened yet. >.< maybe i should've gotten some chocolate for myself too.

I've been hearing a lot of similar reactions to Thor. *sighs* Oh well. I actually haven't seen anything MCU since Cap3 and that was so disappointing it really soured me against the whole franchise. I'm hoping the upcoming Avengers movies will be good and get me back interested in the 'verse, but I doubt it considering the huge cast.

Loved the animals in glasses sketches, Especially the dragon and sloth. Both are just such great animals

Wow about the whiskey. I wonder how many 'priceless' bottles of various stuff are complete fakes. I assume a lot since usually opening them would ruin the value.

i'm excited for black panther (chadwick boseman! angela bassett! a brand-new superhero i know almost nothing about!) but i honestly don't have a lot of faith in infinity war, just because there are going to be so damn many people in it and i can't imagine it will be anything other than tremendously cluttered. spider-man was cute, tho. i don't think you have to rush out and see it, but it was less disappointing than cacw. i mean, there was a lot of tony in it but it wasn't half his movie.

all those animals look so blissful! sloths always kind of look like that, tho.

i wondered where the hotel got that bottle, and how much they paid for it. because someone really played them.

I got to try Macallan 45 once. Not a scotch person here, so most of it was lost on me. *That* was about $50 for the pour. I CANNOT imagine spending $7,000 or whatever it was on a swallow of liquor. Jesus Christ.

i can't even imagine spending $50, but i'm not a scotch person either. but i guess if i was, and i was also a best-selling chinese author with that kind of money to spend, i might do it. my favorite part of that story is actually that the hotel reimbursed the chinese guy, and that he just thought it was funny.

there's something eternally cheerful about otters, even when they look cranky. they're just so cute.

thank you! ^_^ i missed some shots i totally should have made, so personally i'm just glad the rest of my team knows what they're doing.
