Yes to the fasting. Every year is different. This year I got a bit giddy. Maybe not best for such a solemn occasion.

Oh, your photos from Nome are wonderful. I have ideas for stories! I think I'll need to come back to them. Thank you.

Cloud hat!!!

That scene made me super-uncomfortable, too -- it was so unnecessary, in an otherwise-fun movie (and the stuff that gave me THE FEELS, wah!!!)

tiny island and its cloud hat! nature can be so adorable.

i was not expecting the feels! i was actually spoiled for that one scene, and seriously, why was that necessary?

Oooh, your break-the-fast sounded awesome. I love that island but wonder.. I can see how goats can be kept there since they can climb the rockface to get to the grass but how to the herders get the goats back? Do they come when called?

Wow, those old Alaska photos were amazing. It's so sad to think of how many photos were lost in that fire.

>>but how to the herders get the goats back? Do they come when called?<<

who knows! maybe the herders rock climb up, grab the goats, and drop them onto waiting boats? or they end up chasing goats all over the island.

that fire was a real tragedy.

The Eskimo pictures were wonderful-- and how sad that so many were lost in the fire. They capture such distinct moments in history, and if the photographer is talented, something of the spirit of the people in the photo as well.
