if you fasted for yom kippur yesterday, i hope it was an easy and/or meaningful fast. (some people prefer one, some people prefer the other.) my sister and i went to the later morning service [1], saw kingsman: the golden circle, bought cookies, went back for the closing service, and finally broke the fast at our cousin's house. there was egg salad. :D and bagels and lox and tuna salad and salad-salad and noodle kugel and peanut noodles and because my cousin's youngest kid (who's eleven?) is taking a cooking class (!!!), there was even compound butter for the bagels! one strawberry, one blueberry. made by my cousin's youngest kid. who loves his cooking class. how cool is that? kids made some of the desserts, too. i may or may not have brought some cookies home.

kingsman 2 was ott and ridiculous and fun and the clothes were great and the fight scenes were absurd and i liked it. well, except for the scene that was sexist and unnecessary and made taron egerton so uncomfortable that the guy's hand that you see actually belongs to poppy delevingne's husband. (hopefully that isn't spoilery.) i had to suspend my disbelief for most of it, and there wasn't enough channing tatum, but overall? a good way to pass the time between confessions of one's sins.

today i kindofsortof rescued tamalinn from a migraine (it turned out to not be as bad as she was expecting) and went to the grocery store and got my comics and sat around outside a lot because it was SO NICE. now i'm watching black hawk down and am constantly tickled by the fact that a bunch of americans are played by assorted brits. tom hardy looks so young! and orlando bloom seriously looks like a baby.

the island of litla dimun and its cloud hat - it's one of the little faroe islands and is generally covered by a cloud formation that looks like a hat. humans don't live on it but they keep goats there.

photos from nome, alaska taken by the lomen brothers, who had a photography studio in the beginning of the twentieth century. they took a lot of pictures of indigenous eskimos and left behind a pretty neat record.

photos, movies, historical record, jewstuff, weekend wrapup, clouds, fun with the fam
