i finally saw ghostbusters tonight, and i liked it! it was funny, which i expected, and occasionally scary, which i didn't. and i enjoyed the easter eggs. the only thing is that since some of it was shot in boston, i kept trying to figure out where they were. there was one scene that looked like it could have been filmed around the corner from ( Read more... )

Wait, you've been to China, too? You didn't live two hours away from it! (Did I know that you've been to China? I feel like it has come up.) Tell me the story.

Also, oh fried potatoes \o/

Hehe, the Greater Hemsworth's character was a dumbass? :D That's awesome. I bet it was fun for him to do. I don't like the idea of this movie in general: if we want more ladies in movies, we should make more movies with female casts, not take an old beloved one and genderswap everyone, with the opportunity to get on your high horse about people being sexist for not liking it. That being said, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

i've been to china! also as a school trip. (sort of. i think ten kids went from my high school? maybe? plus a couple teachers, plus a group from another school, plus some parents from the other school.) altho i paid for half of it, so i didn't totally put my parents out. (my friends in high school got jobs at the gap or the library, and i worked at... a bookstore. :D ) getting there and getting home was the longest plane ride i never want to take again. i don't remember any locals swarming the blond kids in the group, but we did get swarmed once by chinese guys wanting to practice their english. which was kind of weird! but kind of neat. i bought a lot of stamps and a lot of slides and ate EVERYTHING that was put in front of me. in i think a week and a half i took 720 pictures, and since this was the days before digital cameras, they were all slides. (my dad could get them developed for free at the hospital, because they used slide film for documenting surgeries and injuries and x-rays and shit. my vacation pictures got ( ... )

Ooooh, yellow pictures of the Forbidden City are the best kinds of pictures.

I forgot that he's Australian >.< He plays Thor, and he looks like a Viking, and I got confused about this real accent.

Hey, we have that display cabinet! It's our liquor stash. Booze on the top half, hardware on the bottom. If you got it with doors, you should know (if you don't already) that it's front-heavy, so get some shims or something. We're in CA, and we did 3 shims under the front edge plus Command strips on the back since we couldn't find studs for mounting. I don't know what you'll be using it for, but it is a magnificent liquor cabinet so long as keep the cats out!

i got it for my madame alexander dolls. they used to live at my parents' house, but when my parents moved i took them back, because the other option was to sell them. and i didn't want to sell them, because they're mine. i have a lot, plus my sister kept some that she has no place for, so i said i'd take them until she has room. so i needed a big display thing. my parents had them in a converted (and oddly shallow) closet. i didn't know the cabinet was that front-heavy, so thank you for the tip! i'll have to find a couple shims, or attach it to the wall. we don't get earthquakes like you guys do, but my floor isn't totally flat. (old houses. >.< they settle in weird ways.)
