there was a woman playing the ukulele in the t station this morning. i kinda wanted to stop and listen except i had to catch the train. and then work was pretty quiet (it was a deadline - the 15th of every month is a tax deadline - but there's not a lot due in the middle of july) and by the time i went home there was almost no one left. the rest ( Read more... )

I loved Pawter's revenge because she had such a 'are you kidding me' look with the guy every time he tried to manipulate her. I think it really showed that while he was Qwreshi, he wasn't a Nine and just didn't have the chops to navigate in the same circles she did. (Also, I think she was happy to get some revenge for Hills. HILLS :( ) I *really* hope she didn't go from the flames into the fire though, I really don't look forward to her needing to be rescued in some other way now. The D'Avin jealously thing is.. ugh. If that's what they're going for. I hope it isn't. I love that we're seeing so much more of Alvis (and Pree and Pawter) this season and fleshing out their characters though. (I kind of want the fact Johnny gave a blessing to the Rat King's sister to come up though- the fact he knew the whole thing and had read up on it, I want more about the religion and how the Rat King said that being a true believer wasn't something you get to decide on and what that really means ( ... )

pawter was great. and yeah, jelco was a little outclassed. even if pawter was disinherited (or whatever happened to her), she still learned how to manipulate as one of the nine, and they're experts at that in a way jelco couldn't be. he was such a cardboard cutout character, tho, that i wasn't totally surprised she could get away from him. but she rescued herself! which is always fab.

d'avin/dutch was just dumb from the get-go, and i am surpremely uninterested in his jealousy. grow up, dude.

hopefully now that alvis has that strip of skin (which, EW) from the dead monk and the hint that one of them did come back from fighting the devil, we'll get to learn more about the scarbacks. the show always seemed to have a lot of worldbuilding we didn't see - or hadn't seen yet - so i'd be surprised if the ptb don't have more religion for us.

+1 worldbuilding on this show. It's the first one in a while I've watched where it felt not only had tptb put together a show bible, they'd put a ton of effort into it

Heat is such bullshit! It's in triple digits here. I really miss home where no one has A/C because it's just nice and mild all year. Aw, I do hope you come into a large sum of money and get to buy a condo with all those things!

LA is better - it's on the ocean coast. Bakersfield just sits in the valley of awful. I hear Arizona gets even worse, but still, blergh. Too much heat.

arizona is the desert! well, a lot of it is. (it also has mountains! up north! there's even snow sometimes! i think.) i'm guessing bakersfield is too. ugh. so much ugh. at least you're not stuck there permanently.

Being an enginerd, I not only looked at the Apollo 11 code article, but also the more detailed one linked off of there. ;)

Charon! Why is it such an odd shape? Looks kind of like a bladder ball. :O

i haven't heard (or read...) anyone use the term "enginerd" since i was in college! ah, nostalgia. such an excellently descriptive word. and i am somehow unsurprised that you read the detailed article. :D

>>Charon! Why is it such an odd shape?<<

because space! ("because space" should always be the answer. :D ) but i don't know why. i thought it was just the shadow that made it look more ovoid.

I tried envision the "negative space" that would be parts of Charon in darkness, and still came up with, "Nope. It's squashed." ;)
