so i have been to philly and seen fangirls and watched cacw, and can i just say, it took me seven hours to get there and seven hours to get back and that's a lot of driving. also a lot of tolls. >.< $11.25 on the nj turnpike! twice! and $15 to get over the george washington bridge. (look, that's a lot to cross a bridge, ok?) on the other hand ( Read more... )

:D I'm just so happy to see you had all the fun! And it's a shame that Tony Stark threw up all over your Steve/Bucky movie. I would be pretty pissed, too. (I was just going to say, write fic. And then it hit me. How come you don't write CA fic??)

The tolls are ridiculous. I bypassed them all on principle on the way out of NYC. It did send me through some farmland in Maryland or something, but in the end, those bridge trolls didn't get my money!

>>And it's a shame that Tony Stark threw up all over your Steve/Bucky movie<<

he really did! in the same kind of way we've seen in five movies already, even. how can we miss him if he won't go away??

i don't write mcu fic because the fandom is huge and intimidating as hell and i don't think i have a good enough handle on any of the characters. and SO MANY PEOPLE will tell me if i'm wrong. i did actually write fic for cap 2 - one finished and one un - but i never posted either one because, well, see above about the fandom being huge and intimidating.

i was a little worried that if i bypassed the toll roads, it would take me nine hours to get where i wanted to go. and if it's going to take me nine hours to drive somewhere, i may as well fly.

I saw CA:CW yesterday and - yes! this! All these things that you say! I think the thing that's niggling me, was: not enough Bucky for the emotional weight that relationship needed to have, but also these things! the good and the less good!

that's exactly it! not enough bucky to give his and steve's relationship the weight it needed. they should have been the unquestionable emotional heart, and they weren't. (i don't think tony was either, but at best they kind of split it.) i don't think there was even enough steve-as-regards-bucky, other than steve being so determined to find bucky and keep people from killing him. i really liked all the steve&bucky stuff we got! but we needed more.

Yeah, Baby!Tony CGI still is something I'm trying to sort out. I am not sure I believe him laying out his trauma for a presentation. It's like pulling teeth to get him to lay out his trauma to his friends and his Pepper.

I enjoyed it, but yes, I could definitely have used more Bucky.

it might be easier for tony to talk about his dead-parent trauma to a room full of strangers, because they're strangers and he'll never have to see or talk to them again. but yeah, in retrospect it doesn't make a ton of sense. he's usually a lot more, uh, flippant.

"needs more bucky" is probably the answer to everything.

that's the thing about spending time with tony and building up his emotional arc- it takes time and energy and, uh, emotion away from what should be the emotional center, which is STEVE. because IT IS STEVE'S MOVIE. bucky aside, we shouldn't have to spend so much time with tony and his feelings of personal betrayal and his daddy issues and his "please sign the accords" and his "he killed my mom". we've seen tony work through some of his shit in three movies already. (five if you want to count avengers and aou.) this isn't avengers 2.5, and if it is, maybe they shouldn't have called it captain america: civil war. and it sure as shit isn't (and shouldn't be!) im4 ( ... )
