FLAMETHROWER UKULELE O.o I can never unsee this! My bro-in-law once set himself on fire with a potato canon that was powered by hairspray.

Also, books \o/ Books about pirates!

Was Chris Evans meant to be an asshole? Because it can go either way with rom coms.

your bro-in-law is a weirdo. mad max really does have a flamethrower guitar, which is so much batshit. the fact that someone did it with a ukulele cracks me right up, tho. imagine someone playing something silly and fun, and then *WHOOSH* flames!

you know i needed the pirate book. :D i mean, come on, pirates!

i'm not sure if chris was supposed to be a dick or not. i kind of think we were supposed to sympathize with him and root for him to get the girl - because that's what do you with romcoms - but i also think the movie wanted to be a romcom at the same time it was kind of commenting on romcoms, so maybe he was supposed to be a little bit of a self-centered ass.

that's the thing - i don't know! sometimes it felt sincere, sometimes it didn't. i did get the impression the writer and director were trying for a little "we're totally aware of the tropes we're putting on screen" irony, but i wasn't totally sure.

an oklahoma high school is replacing some of its blackboards with whiteboards, and when they took the blackboards down, they discovered hundred-year-old blackboards underneath, complete with multiplication tables and drawings and lessons about the pilgrims.

I kind of love that A LOT.
