i was watching the avengers earlier (it was on tv) and right after natasha performs some cognitive recalibration on clint, he looks at her and says "jess?" (and then she hits him in the face.) who's jess? i assume she's part of comics!clint backstory, like a little wink to the marvel comics readers in the audience.

It's vaguely possible he said Jess, as in Jessica Drew, who is Spiderwoman and his ex-girlfriend. Although it would have made more sense if he said Bobbi since he was married to Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird, for a long time before he died and they had a thing once he was alive again. (DON'T ASK, it's comics they do stuff like that) but I always thought he said Tosh or Tash, his nickname for Natasha?

after i posted i remembered jessica drew, altho how i know who she is i have no idea, but i didn't know she and clint were a thing, but i figured it was possible. but in retrospect "tash" makes more sense.
