today was astonishingly, unseasonably springy (ie, 74º), so i went for a walk and saw a lot of dogs and small children (exemplified by the two little boys petting the most patient golden retriever ever) and had ice cream for lunch, and eventually i went to curling and was kind of weirded out by the fact that we were playing an ice sport in the ( Read more... )

It's Spring here, too and kind of unnerving. We usually aren't over the danger of snow in March or even April. I'm enjoying it although I fear it means summer will be very warm.

I like the alternative building materials!

thank you! that's some really interesting info about coffin transportation. i'm kind of weirded out by the idea of funeral buses rather than hearses, but mostly because i'm picturing a bunch of coffins in one bus being delivered to a bunch of different cemeteries, which i guess isn't much different from a bunch of living people on a bus all getting off at different stops.

Haha, cemetery bus! :D No, the buses the article is talking about are pretty small. The models are in the photos, though it's hard to judge their size without a comparison. They're slightly bigger than mini vans. They were still around when I was little, though they were used as regular transport. But now that I think about it, coffins were transported in open truck beds. That thing would creep slowly down the street and the mourners threw flowers as it went, so if you ever walked down the street and saw a trail of flowers, that's what it was. I was mortified back then to step on one of those flowers 'cause I was told it was an awful omen.
