Hee-- thanks for the pimpage!

I tell you, as those pinch-hit requests went by through my email, it got to the point where I felt lucky if I recognized any one of the fandoms/ideas in some of the requests. Especially, again, with the 1000-word minimum... a fic based on a single song? On characters in commercials? 1000 words of cat-macro fic?

Thank god for Yuletide Madness, because some of the more off-the-wall requests are very doable in shorter lengths, where 1000 words possibly requires more imagination on the "weird" front than I usually have. :0

cat macros? seriously? that seems like something someone would ask for just to fuck with the other writers.

i am constitutionally incapable of participating in yuletide - for one thing, i can count the fandoms i've ever written for on one hand, and that's even separating spn from cwrps - but i love reading about people's experiences with it, and the weird fucking fics that occasionally result just crack me up. so i had to share. :D

I've had that thought myself. I don't think it's necessarily deliberate, but I think you should ask yourself (when requesting) whether there's any possibility YOU could write the thing you're asking for. If not, perhaps your request is... unreasonable. The cat-macro one really sticks in my mind, because the comedy is 1) visual, and 2) verbally microscopic.

How do you stretch 1- to 2-sentence humor into 1000 words? Though I mentioned it to our Wincon roomie, desertport, and she said she had an outline for a cat-macro fic that was extensive. So, it can be done. But not by me. ;)

The Beowulf/Old Spice Guy story was one of the most random results I saw from this year, and I hardly looked at any of the offerings! But there's still time...

Oh, I love bakebakebake! I've got so many recipes bookmarked to try out.

Good luck with all of your fic plans :)

i love the comm but it makes me hungry!

there is original fic in my immediate future and then, uh, possibly white collar fic because i am crazy. and if no one else is going to write neal's origin story for me, i'll have to do it myself.

oh hey! writing communities, yay! *ahem* Sorry, got all excited.

I started a 200 fic challenge last April and last January decided to write 250 words of fiction a day (a goal that I much surpassed by halfway through the year, but that is neither here nor there) and your community sounds wonderful. May I pimp it to my fanfic friends? And how would you prefer that done, just a link to the info page?

Thanks in advance,
~gm

Pete Postlethwaite is such a loss - I hadn't realised until I read the paper this morning that he has two quite young children, too - even sadder, somehow.

it does always seem worse when someone dies and leaves small children behind. i didn't even know he had kids! i knew nothing about him as a person, just that he was a really good actor.
