i'm pretty sure american psycho would've grossed me out waaaaay too much, altho i was vaguely impressed that it was apparently so scary that it had to be kept behind the counter in a lot of bookstores and wrapped in plain brown paper. now i just think easton ellis wrote it to show off how far he could push the envelope.

i'm 99.44% sure one of the guys in a writing workshop i took that semester bought it and read it and was not super impressed with the writing, but i wouldn't quote myself on it. i only ever read less than zero, which was really just about bret and his friends, and for all i know he does a better job when he's writing about totally original characters.
