Oh man, I wish we got that fruit of the month thing! We got a few H&D pears at Christmas, and the one I got was delicious. For pineapples, I've seen a thing in the grocery store that's specifically made for cutting them.

Randomly, this made me think of something I read a little while ago, that when pineapples first came to [I forget if it was europe or the US] people considered them such status symbols that they didn't eat them. They just let them sit around until they got rotten. And the other thing about bananas being a fancy food that one ate with fork and knife after slicing open the skin. History often cracks me up.

sadly we only get three months of h&d. good stuff, tho. and i can totally believe that about the pineapple, that people prized them so much they wouldn't eat them. waste of a good pineapple, you ask me.... and HEEE at eating your banana with a knife and fork. people are so weird.

For a pineapple you need a very sharp knife! I am envious of the tiny bananas, I love them, particularly the red ones. I obviously need to visit the fancy fruit and vegetable market down the road. yum.

i don't know if any of my knives are sharp enough. how sad is that? if i could send you some tiny bananas i totally would - they're tiny but the bunch is not.
