my car overheated on the way home from work. >.< the check engine light went on, smoke drifted out from under the hood, i freaked the fuck out, and pulled into a gas station with a garage. someone will look at it tomorrow and tell me what's wrong and how many parts need to be replaced. (besides the radiator, apparently.) it's eleven years old ( Read more... )

Oh no, what a pain! *Hugs* You might have blown a hose or something? *More hugs*

the mechanic did mention i might need a new hose somewhere.... the radiator's definitely involved, but hopefully nothing more major.

at least i got to a garage in good time.... the guy at the garage guessed $500 for the radiator, which i'm assuming is the going rate but i have no idea. i hope nothing else big needs work.

it's nice to know this isn't a completely weird thing to have happen, tho.

Sorry to hear the bad car news. I hope the estimate comes in reasonable.

me too! the guy at the gas station said about $500 for the radiator, but since i've never had to have it replaced before i have no idea if that's a reasonable estimate or not. hopefully there isn't any serious damage to anything else.
