when the sides for this episode came out, there was all this chatter on lj, and i was so sorely tempted to click a couple cut-tags and spoil myself. i didn't, because i'm terrifically spoiler avoidant, but now i'm wondering how different the episode is as filmed from the sides.

someone who actually read the sides will have to tell me )

"y'know, if sirens could be guys i'd be guessing the fbi agent is one, because he's, like, perfect for dean. i mean, he knows all about the impala! and zeppelin! and they're kind of bonding at the strip club! he's like dean's perfect partner"

ha! I called it too ::hi-fives all around:: and i got to sit on the couch and yell I TOLD YOU SO to K who bit on the doctor/Sam red-herring. heh, i felt pretty slick.

"altho dean has already had the experience of sam trying to kill him while under the influence of creepy"

yup - Asylum. one of my faves ;p and no emo teary moments at the end either. much MUCH better that way.

i was actually annoyed that nick turned out to be the siren, because i liked him. even if i did have a moment of "ha! i knew it!".... and it was kind of cool that they had a male siren.

asylum and born under a bad sign. and yeah, we didn't get perfect emo tears! and actually we didn't have the five minute anvilicious wrapup at the end either.... but the boys are really going to have to sit down and have a conversation.

(asylum was my first episode. creeped me right the hell out and i wanted to watch it again.)

What they believe about each other, or themselves auroramama February 6 2009, 03:52:35 UTC
Well... speaking as someone who has said some really horrible things to people I loved under the influence of hormones, just because there's a trace of honesty in the terrible things people say doesn't mean that the terrible stuff is *more true* than the good stuff. Don't most people believe horrible things about themselves, at least a little? Doesn't make them true. Doesn't mean they're anywhere in the same vicinity as reality ( ... )

i think sam does think deep down that he's a better hunter, or at least in terms of finding lilith he's a more dedicated one, but i totally agree that his words were calculated to hurt, whether he really believed them or not, because that's one of the ways he fights.

he's like dean's perfect partner

Hee! You totally called it!

Man, the stratospheric level of angst on this show is getting hard for me to take. Not that I'll stop watching or anything, but ouch!

i called it and then i got thrown off by the doctor seducing sam.... and then i was right. i'm kind of amused that dean's perfect whatever isn't a woman at all, but a perfect partner younger brother type. aww, dean. (slashy as hell, too.)

Y'know what I like about Nick being the siren? It means the whole scene between Sam and Cara was, very simply, Cara puts the moves on Sam and Sam goes for it. (Also, it does make her the only (human) woman he's been with during the show who didn't end up dead, yay!)

lyra_wing" has also pointed out that the Greek legend surrounding the hyacinth involves two male gods in love with the same boy. HMMMMMMM! *giggle*

cara was totally an excuse to get jared to take his shirt off. not that i mind, but sam went for it so quickly and with so little later angst - he wasn't even interested in saying goodbye? - it seemed a wee bit not like him. i'm so glad she didn't end up dead, tho. woo!

i saw lyra's post. heee. as if the episode wasn't already absurdly slashy....

Why would he be angsty about it, though? It was so clearly a hookup, on both their parts.

(... to just add to the slashiness of the episode, she was kind of a female Dean, yeah? :D Life is short, live it up and move on.)

but he didn't even want to say goodbye? not even "it was fun, have a nice life"? i kind of get why he wouldn't - i mean, do people generally say goodbye to their one night stands a day or two later? - and there really was no cause for angst, but something about the whole thing seemed slighty not-sam-like. which is not a slam against the writing or anything, but more an observation about how much sam has changed from the sam that dean (and, er, us) used to know.

musesfool mentioned that that about her too, that she was a lot like dean. apparently sam's perfect woman is... his brother. hee. kripke loves the slashers, yes he does.
