so i come home from work (late, which is my own fault) and there's a big-ass red pickup truck parked across my driveway, such that no one can actually park there. said pickup does not belong to anyone who lives in my building, because then they would have, you know, parked in the driveway instead of along the sidewalk. can i call and have it ( Read more... )

I'd park so he couldn't get out without coming to ask you to move. Then I'd give him the death glare and point out how he'd fucked up.

I'm mean that way.

the only way to do that is to double-park, and if i did that i'd be blocking the street. he's parallel parked along the sidewalk like a normal driver, just right across the entrance to my driveway.

Is the anyway you can... Hmmmm. That bites. If there was an open space behind him I'd park so close to him that he was wedged in.

Leave a note and if he's not gone in the next hour, tow him.

i would wait ~10 minutes and then call for a tow truck. it's not rude at all, they are the rude ones, plus i'm pretty sure they're breaking a parking law.

now i hear noises outside so maybe someone's coming to move it and i don't have to call. i am going to call a tow truck if it happens again, tho.

...a bunch of guys are changing a tire. on this big-ass pickup. the hell?

Oh, wow. Some people decided to do that in my driveway a few months ago. They just pulled up, parked me in, and right about the time when I was getting ready to go out there and ask what their problem was, they started changing a tire. That was a big-ass pickup truck, too. I wonder if it's the same people?

Or maybe everyone with a truck like that feels like they own all streets.

was it a shiny red truck with a cab big enough for a back seat? did you get out of your driveway, at least?

call now. if the hazards aren't on, it doesn't matter. and maybe they'll move the truck before the towing company gets there.

I'd have him towed, but a nice person would leave the note.

do you have an apt/bldg manager you can call? if so, perhaps you can call them and have them find out who it belongs to/get it moved? Also, I don't think calling to have it towed is rude. I do think the inconsiderate asshole who owns the truck is rude tho.

i have a landlady, but she'd probably tell me to call a tow truck too. there are only three apartments in my building, and i know what two of the tenants' cars look like. (the guy who lives downstairs drives a little silver civic that looks just like mine. hee.)
