creepy finger cookies! on the one hand, EWWW. on the other, NEAT. also they apparently taste good too.

i bit the bullet (ow) and signed up for nanowrimo. >.< what the hell do you class "post-apocalypse" as? it's not a future post-apocalypse, it's not scifi, it's not fantasy, it's not horror. so my nanonovel will be "other." i'm ( Read more... )

but you can get a nice crispish crust with just the cheese. putting carbs on a different kind of carb just seems like too many carbs in one place. and i don't want crunchy mac & cheese - i'd keep thinking there were eggshells in it or something. cheese rinds, i don't know. something that shouldn't be there.

but putting oatmeal and brown sugar on your crumble is like putting more crust on top, whereas putting breadcrumbs on mac & cheese is just... breadcrumbs on mac & cheese. there's no bottom crust.

i dunno, i guess some people are just weird with their food.

my mom used to put rice in her meatloaf. breadcrumbs aren't too weird, as long as they're ground up really fine and you can't tell they're there.

why the rice? as binder, i guess. or a sneaky way to get some carb into dinner, altho i don't think we ever had a problem eating our carbs....

i'm really tempted to try and make them! except i'd have to bring them to work or something because there is no way i'm eating a plate of fingers by myself.

i figure i'll think of characters as i go, but i need at least one person to start out with. i guess i could call him just "nameless narrator" until i think of something....

and breadcrumbs are weird! mac & cheese isn't supposed to be crunchy on top. a little cheese crisp, that's totally fine and kind of expected. but not toast.
