December 21/22 is the Winter Solstice -- in the Northern Hemisphere.

however, in the Southern Hemisphere, that same day is is the Summer Solstice.

December 25th is Xmas wherever it's celebrated.

so in the Southern Hemisphere, Xmas is a Summer Holiday.....

Yep. Christmas and New Year's are summer holidays down that side of the globe. Easter happens in the Fall. Halloween is in the Spring.

It's topsy-turvy, I tells ya!

In certain churches, Christmas is celebrated on Jan. 7.

I have a fever and bronchitis and for some reason that makes me remember all kinds of weird obscure facts. I also know a flounder has 17 eyes. That is a strange number. I may be delerious

Yep. I'm always sweating like a pig at Christmas, which is why I'd love to spend Christmas at a very snowy place one day. ;)

But the strangest thing is seeing people dressed as Santa Claus in 90F+ weather, even if I'm used to it.

Haha. I love how this confuses some people :D Everything in the southern hemisphere is opposite to the northern hemisphere. I, personally, love Xmas as a sumemr holiday.

I had both summer and winter Xmas', but for me, nothing is better than a 100F degree day, cold cuts of ham, or bbq with salads and desserts for xmas lunch, a dip in the pool or beach, fresh seafood, and lots of fresh fruits. I love being able to walk around the neighbourhood with the kids and see the decorated houses, and spend hours outside of a night.

That, and it falls in our summer holidays off school :D

I really think it's what you get used to.
