Field Trip for one thing, um fuck I forget the name of the episode but after Pfaster kidnaps Scully and Mulder just holds her while she cries, my heart.

Heh, funny you bring this up right now. I'm just going through some XF screencaps and once again noticed how those two have no concept of personal space. I don't have an example right now, but I'm sure everyone knows what I mean. Whenever they talk or sit next to each other or just... stand there, they're often so close to one another. It's like for them nothing is too close, and then they gaze at each other and talk in this intimate way and they're in their own little world, where nothing matters but the other one and OMG MAKE ME STOP.

But "Field Trip" is great example, too. Much love for that moment.

this is so true. i think my favorite example is this part in 'The Field Where I Died' where scully leans in and is literally like... one centimeter from mulder's face. just because she can.

God, like every moment they're on screen together... or even not on screen together, LOL.

I don't know if this really counts as "understated" but I'd say the part in Redux II, I think it was, where Mulder cries as Scully sleeps. That's probably one of my favorite moments of the entire series.

Oooohh I love that moment so very much. I love the sheer need to reach out to her, even when she's not available. I love that it was this raw moment for him where he was so defeated that he needed her in anyway that he could, even if it meant eating her arm as he cried.
