[RL with Adachi, Dr. Birkin, and Dr. Stein] Let me show you my laboratory!

Dr. Shirogane was exceedingly pleased to know that there were others who could enter this world besides those insufferable children that were trying to put a stop to his glorious plans! Nao-kun stirred impatiently in the back of his mind. Napping, for the moment, but ready to make his presence known at a moment's notice. He was just as excited to ( Read more... )

Stein was very excited to be here. The fog gave him a headache and he could feel it weighing him down, but the fascinating surroundings made it worthwhile. He had been uncertain about the wisdom of diving into the television upon Adachi's word, but here he was, and he was determined to make the best of it.

He carried a heavy case full of scientific measuring equipment in one hand as he walked. So far, he hadn't yet seen a shadow, but he sensed them around.

Souls. Everywhere. Corrupted and twisted, in many cases, but many of them simply registered as pure human to his own senses.

It was fascinating, and he couldn't wait to capture one and cut it open to discover what it might really be.

As expected, Birkin looked like he was having a panic attack the second the three of them started walking around in the fog. His eyes flicked every which way the second he thought he heard or saw anything. It took most of his self restraint to not cling to Stein in some semblance of safety. Part of him wished he'd stuck to his intuition and decided to skip out on the trip but the other part was genuinely curious about the nature of these things that kept harassing the community.

The scientist walked as fast as he could to keep up with the other two, ignoring the oncoming headache. "Thanks again, Adachi. I owe you another dinner for this. A nice one." Birkin tugged on his tie nervously as he walked. "You know where we're going, right?" Never should have gone in that TV. Could have just stayed in Adachi's tiny apartment and "held down the fort" or something... Damn his scientific curiosity.

Adachi liked it in here a lot. He wasn't sure exactly what he'd expected, entering for the first time, and he couldn't put his finger on it, but maybe it had something to do with what Shirogane's shadow had said. Maybe the shadows did want him there. In short, he felt right at home and Birkin's obvious discomfort was pretty damn funny to him.

"Yes, I know where we're going," Adachi half-lied smoothly. Okay, he didn't know precisely where they were headed, but it felt like he was almost being led there anyway. "It seems so quiet..." The brats always seemed to have a ridiculous amount of shadows after them. He had to admit, just walking through the fog was a tad disconcerting. Straining his eyes, he could make out what was apparently a building up ahead. "There, see, we're pretty much there. Quit whining."

Dr. Shirogane shifted his posture as he sensed the three humans approach. After all, this was his domain, created from Naoto's mind. He knew exactly when trespassers from the "other side" set foot in his territory.

A sickle of a grin spread across his face as the three men stepped out of the swirling fog. Adachi, of course, appeared the most comfortable with his surroundings. As it should be. After all, he was welcome here. Dr. Shirogane could already sense the other Shadows teeming within his lair clamoring about, eager to come closer to their "master ( ... )
