Best bet is to take it to your local dry-cleaning shop, check for a sign out front that advertises alterations. Seriously. I'm good, and so are several others I know, but men's formal wear is a specialized art, and no one is better at it than the quiet little Oriental men who work in the annex of a good dry-cleaning shop. Those men are gods of the nimble fingers, and you're far more likely to get an end result with which you are pleased than by finding one of your friends who sews a bit.
If you don't have a trusted dry cleaner/alterations place, then call Men's Warehouse or one of the other major menswear retailers and ask what their cost for alterations would be. It will be pricier, but you'll still get quality results.
