The sound of murmuring voices drew Dunn from his sleep. It took a moment for him to recognize and remember exactly where the hell he was at. As his eyes swept over the room they took in pale purple walls. The exposed skin of his cheek was stuck to what felt like a leather couch. He groaned softly and shifted on the couch intent upon going back to sleep when the voices started again.

“Raab, you think him and Bam are really fucking?”

“I don’t know, man… Ape and Bam were really going at it earlier… maybe?”

“He’s like Glomb, dude… if Glomb was about eight years older and blonde…”

“Bam will so kick your ass if hears you say that, Dico…”

Smirking Ryan sat up and turned to face them. Their shock was apparent and funny as hell as both boys jumped and stared at him wide-eyed from their spot sitting cross-legged in the middle of the ramp.

“Shit!” The blonde one gasped then waved. “Uh… hi.”

“Which one of you is Dico?”

Raab immediately looked over at the other boy. Raising his eyebrows, Dunn asked him. “Have you spoke with Bam yet?”

“…no, why?”

“You should he really missed you… He talked quite a bit about getting kicked out of K-mart and stuff with you…”

Clutching his side, Raab laughed out loud only to stop when Ryan’s eyes fell on him. “And you shit in a locker?” That got Dico started giggling too. Spitting on his hand, he offered it to Dunn.

“Ew!”

At that moment, Bam walked into the room. He smiled warmly at Ryan before sitting down beside him. “Dude, you slept for like ten hours…”

His attention drawn from the two kids in front of him, Dunn pressed his shoulder into Bam’s. “I didn’t sleep last night… I was worried as fuck about today… with good reason… you and April are still fighting?”

Sighing, Bam rested his head on Ryan’s shoulder. “Yeah… Phil’s trying to get her to see things differently, but…” He picked at a thread on Dunn’s jeans. “Who would have thought that Phil would be the one standing up for me after the shit he said when they kicked me out…”

Unable or unwilling to deal with the solemn reality weaving itself into the atmosphere, Dico jumped up. “Bam, dude… we got you a home coming present… we were going to wait until later… but I think it’ll cheer you up…” He ran over to a jukebox that was sitting in the corner.

“You got me a CD?” He laughed and nuzzled into Dunn’s arms.

“Not just any CD… that one you were looking for… the import with the live tracks…” He pressed a button on the box and grinned over at Bam.

“From lashes to ashes and from lust to dust. In your sweetest torment, I’m lost and no heaven can help us. Ready, willing and able to lose it all for a kiss so fatal and so warm… it’s heartache every moment from the start to the end… deeper into our heavenly suffering our fragile souls are falling…”

Opening the case of the Jukebox, Dico pulled out the CD cover and handed it to Bam. “It’s autographed and shit too…”

Hands clutched around the insert, Bam sniffed loudly and hid his face behind his hair. “Thanks, Dico…”

Raab tapped Dico’s shoulder and nodded towards the door. They left the room without saying good-bye; leaving Bam and Ryan alone with one another. In the kitchen, April stared wide-eyed at the two of them. “You just left him and Bam in there alone?! Are you crazy?!”

Dico spoke up. “Ape, he looked like he was about ready to cry… Ryan wasn’t groping him or anything… geez, calm down!”

“Why are all of you okay with this?! That man is like 30 years old!!!”

“And from the sounds of it saved Bam’s life…” Jesse argued.

The next morning Ryan stumbled grumpily into the kitchen. Despite it’s fluffiness, the leather couch was hardly comfortable to sleep on. And coming from Dunn, who spent most of his nights in a sleeper bunk, that was saying something. Upon finding everyone but the person he was looking for, he frowned. “Where’s Bam?”

“Doing laundry…” Jesse mumbled over his cup of orange juice and pointed towards the doorway.

Spatula still in hand, April’s jaw dropped. “Bull!”

Dunn cocked his head at her in confusion. “Why bull?”

“Bam doesn’t ‘do’ laundry…” She answered as if her answer was beyond apparent.

“Your Bam didn’t… this Bam does.” Ryan replied shortly before heading the direction Jesse had waved in. He skipped down the stairs and despite the coldness of the interactions upstairs, he smiled upon seeing Bam pouring detergent into the washer before switching it on. “Hey…”

“Hey…” Bam walked over to him and standing on his toes gave him a quick kiss on the mouth. “They still up in arms up there?”

“Mostly just your mom…”

Burying his face in Dunn’s chest, Bam sighed loudly. “I don’t want to stay if it means you have to go…”

“I know, BamBam… I know…” He gently kissed Bam on the top of his head. “Let’s go upstairs…”

Bam followed solemnly. He was not ready to deal with his mother again. Fuck it, he wasn’t ready to deal with anybody again. Every set of eyes in the kitchen was on them as they entered. “What?” Bam asked defiantly.

April blinked in disbelief. “You just started a load of laundry…”

“What? You thought Ryan did mine?” He snorted and grabbed a glass of juice off the table and handed it to Dunn before grabbing one for himself.

“You’ve changed…” She whispered. When Ryan opened his mouth to speak she held a hand up to stop him. “I know. I know. What we did to him caused it, Ryan… I’m well aware of that. It doesn’t make your intentions any easier to accept.”

Dunn handed his juice back to Bam. “You don’t have a clue what my intentions even are, Mrs. Margera…” Sliding his hand over Bam’s shoulder trying to comfort him, he continued. “I’m going to go out to the truck for a few minutes… catch up my log book and sh… stuff…”

After he’d left the room, Bam slammed both of the glasses on the cupboard. “Jesus, Ape… what’s your problem?”

“My problem is that you and this man are…” She lowered her voice to a stage whisper. “… fucking…”

“Actually, Ape… we aren‘t … you want to know why?” He challenged her. “Because he, believe it or not, freaks out more about our age difference than you ever could. It’s not like he’s some old pervert trying to get me into bed with him… he fucking cares about me… and if that isn’t good enough for you then nothing ever will be.” Bam stomped out of the room and grabbing a board made a bee-line for the ramp in the back yard.

“You’re not going back out on the road with him… not until you’re 18...”

“I’m not staying here without him…”

Ryan slid into a seat at the kitchen table beside Jesse and Deron. They watched April and Bam fight yet again. Glancing at Jesse, he saw the same look on the guy’s face. This was fucking hopeless. Neither of them were ever going to back down. Fishing in his pocket he pulled out his keys and threw them on the table. Four blue eyes fell on him. He shrugged. “I’ll get a job as a mechanic somewhere… or something…”

Once again his action reduced April to slack jawed shock. “You’d quit your job to be here with Bam?”

“Yeah…”

Covering her mouth, tears welled up in her eyes. She turned to Bam. “Honey, are you sure… I mean, are you sure you aren’t confused?”

Deron and Jesse rolled their eyes mumbling. “Not again…”

Ryan was pretty fed up with it as well. “You don’t get confused about shit like that... It’s not like reading stereo directions or a map or something… you know?”

“And I’m sure you’re a scholar…”

“I know that you don’t spend two years in MCVY because of confusion…”

Sputtering over his coffee, Deron looked at Dunn with new eyes. “You were at MCVY?”

“Yes, yes… and next thing we know he’s your long lost room-mate from Hellview, Deron…” April snapped. “Can I please talk to Bam without interruption?!” She grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the kitchen.

Dunn regarded Deron cautiously. “Hellview?”

“MCVY…?”

“Is Bam really safe with you?” Jesse asked coldly.

“If I told you that I was there because I beat the shit out of some kids that thought it was funny to haze my boyfriend at the time by tying him to the flagpole practically naked and painting the word fag on his chest… what would you think?”

Considering Ryan’s words, Jesse nodded. “So it’s fair to assume that if someone gives Bam any hell they’ll have to deal with you?”

“You bet your ass they would…”

“Ape needs to get her head out of her ass…” Deron mumbled.

“You ain’t shittin’…” Jesse looked over at Dunn again. “I can’t believe Phil’s reaction… I thought he’d side with Vito…”

“Me too.”

Without a word to either of them, Ryan stood and went back to the den and collapsed onto the couch.

Each time he woke in the room it sent him reeling, but even more so this time when he woke to Bam stretched out above him. He moaned softly when their lips met. Wanting nothing more than to shove his hands down Bam’s pants and push and pull until at his ass until their cocks rubbed together between their clothes, Dunn gasped and drew away. “Bam… stop… just kissing.”

“But I…”

A single finger over Bam’s lip, Ryan shushed him. “Kissing…”

His muscles quivering under his own weight, Bam lowered himself until Dunn’s mouth was just beneath his and sucked his bottom lip between his teeth.

Just outside the door, April slid down the wall until she was seated on the floor. Everything that Ryan about his intentions not being deviant had been true. Or at least it seemed that way… listening in on them. As tears spilled over her cheeks she thought long and hard about the son she’d only weeks ago condemned to the street. She had him back now, but April knew that things would never ever be the same again…
