I really enjoyed the crocheting. Linus liked it, too. He even helped for a while. His idea of helping is to chase the yarn as it moves from the ball o' yarn through my fingers and around the hook and into the blanket. The recipient of the three-colored blanket will be getting a little Linus DNA as a bonus. ;)
Aren't bead stores wonderful? Oh, god, I could spend hours petting the beads. I do spend hours petting the beads. All those little drawers filled with shiny, sparkly beads. It is absolute heaven. Did you buy anything? What is Todd thinking of making? Details! I must have details!
And I do like that icon!
princsscarmen makes the most fantabulous icons. This one is perfect for me. :)
We actually managed to not buy anything at the bead store! We will probably be back there soon, though, to make a purchase.
Todd is considering some necklace and earring ideas. He is planning some earrings with tiny buddhas for a friend and he is planning making necklaces he wants to sell. I kept saying: Selling is great, but you need to make necklaces for me!!
He also has a little bead loom and wants to try to learn to use that.
Rest assured that if/when he makes some beaded stuff, I will post pictures. :)
Yoko always likes to be involved when I'm doing something with yarn, too. Yarn is highly enticing.
I forgot that I wanted to stand with you and say: Weaving in ends sucks!

Yes. Yes, it most certainly does. I think I need a sticker that says that, in fact. Weaving in ends sucks! I'd put it on my crafty tote bag.
I am wildly impressed that you managed not to buy anything. I sometimes escape the bead shop without buying anything, but it's usually only because I'm poverty-stricken. If I have actual money with me when I go into the bead shop it mostly stays there when I leave.

Hee! Good point! You could offer to be his beta tester. ;)
Alex was not terribly interested in my yarny crafts, but Linus just cannot get enough of the yarn. Actually, that's not entirely true. Alex liked to lie on the project-in-progress. He helped by keeping it from falling off the couch, mostly by planting himself on top of it. Twenty pounds of cat goes a long way toward keeping a blanket in place.
Hee! I'm not following a pattern for either of these. The two-colored is all double crochet, with five rows of a blue-ish color Homespun and then one row of a cream color Homespun, and the cream color for the border. It's really simple so it goes very, very quickly. The other is double crochet, too, using a wool blend. There are four rows of the first color, four rows of the second, and four rows of the third, and then it repeats over and over again.
I sometimes do more complicated things or follow patterns, but I chose these because they'd be easy to do on the bus and because I can take them with me from place to place without worrying about losing my place in the pattern.
I count my base chaing, but only because I'm a tiiiiiny bit compulsive and I count pretty much everything. So it's not so much about starting with a chain of exactly 173 stitches. It's more about knowing that it's 173 stitches when I start. You know

A whole closet of beads??? Oh my GOSH you're going to be busy.
What you need is the plastic organizer aisle at Walmart. I'm addicted to those things. They're stacked next to my desk with their easy-to-fill drawers of goodness. I also found a big ol' organizer back in the paint and plumbing section that has teeny drawers that would be perfect for beads. It was only $10 and I want it badly.
Last week, I went through my HUGE bin of yarn and put them into 1 pound plastic storage bags. I put colours together, mostly. But this means that when I want to find a yarn, I don't have to dig and then unwind the yarn from the other yarn it got tangled with. This makes my heart happy.
Oh, god, plastic organizey things. How I love them! You know what I really want, though? One of those gigantic red Craftsman tool chests. That would rock.
Eventually I'm going to organize the yarn into these things from Ikea:
Do you know what? That IKEA organizer proves that we now have cat toys for humans. I mean, it looks like a cat condo, right? And we get all giddy when we look at it and suddenly want to go dash around the room and then sharpen our claws in it.
And to cement the idea, it's going to be filled with YARN! Who loves yarn as much as we do? Huh?
Also, you just made me realize that Linus will climb in them and Crazy Eddie will hide in them unless I make sure I close the door to the closet where I'm going to hang them. Can't you just see the two of them hanging out in there with all the yarn?

How exciting that you got a lot of crocheting done this weekend!
We visited a bead store on Saturday and it was very exciting. So many colors and shapes and ideas! Todd is getting excited about beading now.
And I do like that icon!

Tell me about the one you're working on?
